The Oxfendazole Development Group is engaged in the preclinical and clinical study of oxfendazole with an aim to seek its approval for the treatment of several Neglected Tropical Diseases, diseases that are prevalent in people living in areas of poverty around the world. Oxfendazole’s established use as a veterinary deworming medicine, as well as newer data from studies of certain parasites in animals, suggest that oxfendazole may be effective against certain human parasites, and in fact, may be more effective in human patients than some currently used antiparasitic drugs. Initial safety studies in healthy human volunteers will be followed by Proof of Concept studies in patients infected with specific parasites.
